Bio
Dr. Scott Eric Kaufman serves as Director of Healthcare Ministries at The Church at Pinnacle Hills in Rogers, Arkansas. This cutting-edge ministry is reaching people in the medical and allied health professions throughout Northwest Arkansas, training them to integrate Christian faith into their daily work.
A native of Ozark, Missouri, Dr. Kaufman studied at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, where he graduated in 1984 with a degree in Nursing. After several years working as a Registered Nurse, he decided to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, graduating in 1995 with honors as a Jordin Scholar–”The College of Pharmacy’s most prestigious award, based on academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to the profession.”
Following graduation, he completed a one-year Clinical Residency in Pharmacotherapy Management / Infectious Disease at St. John’s Health System in Springfield, Missouri. After completing his training, Dr. Kaufman remained on staff at St. John’s while serving concurrently as Assistant Professor at Missouri State University’s Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner programs, where he taught courses in pharmacology, therapeutics, medical physiology, and clinical decision-making. During this time he also served as president of the Ozarks Area Pharmacy Association.
Dr. Kaufman loves to write, and in 1996 was awarded the “Outstanding Literary Contribution” by the Prism Publication Board for his article, “Sublingual Nifedipine: Rhyme Without Reason.” In addition to being published in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Kaufman has served as a co-investigator in Phase III and Phase IV clinical trials of drug products for some of the nation’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
In 2004, Dr. Kaufman felt a “call to prepare” for ministry, and moved his family to Louisville, Kentucky so he could pursue studies at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduating with a Master’s degree in May 2007, he accepted a call to join the staff team of The Church at Pinnacle Hills.
Desiderius Erasmus once said, “When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes.” Much like Erasmus, Dr. Kaufman is a hopeless bibliophile, and would spend his entire livelihood on books if it weren’t for the firm but loving intervention of his beautiful wife, Debi. His primary reading interests are in the areas of theology and philosophy, and he holds active memberships in the Society of Christian Philosophers, the Evangelical Theological Society, and the Jonathan Edwards Society at Yale University.
Dr. Kaufman and his wife have two children, Eric and Elizabeth.
